RC Permissions Post

Caren possesses an odd little ability that allows her to detect evil... because it causes her physical pain, particularly in the case of demonic possession. In extreme cases (the canonical example being 'All The Evils of The World') it will outright cause her body to spontaneously sprout angry spikes; not good for her health as you might imagine. Strong magic can also affect it and she can generally 'tell' if someone is a bit spiritually/magically odd.

Basically, if your character is 'evil' in a defined or detectable way, please tag here with a description! That way I can figure out how Caren's ability will react to it. There are no counter-effects on the other character, it's just she has a literal morality/magic-dar.

Secondly, if your character is male, Caren will able to use Shroud of Magdalene to bind him; leaving him incapable of doing anything (save presumably getting very irritated with Caren). On the upside, if anyone physically attacks him whilst he's bound, the effect will end, so she can't (easily) abuse it to get them killed. I'd basically like permission as to whether Caren can do this or not, since obviously it's affecting other characters.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? (Again a basic description of how it works would be most useful here)

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Yyyyyyyes; he's a sprite, which is sort of like a ghost/spirit created to guide and help a specific person (in this case, Dave Strider) through the personal quest laid upon them by a game called SBURB. He's not dangerously powerful, but he is pretty obviously not human, and that would probably register on a spiritual or magical level as well.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? Yeah, no problem.

Is/has your character (been) possessed by demons or strongly associated in evil in some way? Technically yes? I don't know whether Alice specifically counts as "evil", but she is a Chain which is pretty much a demon and he has a contract with her and was possessed by her once. So if "sense evil" extends to "sense demons" then yeah it definitely counts.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? See above regarding demon contract; he's also slowly... stealing? absorbing? said Chain/demon's powers but at the point of the timeline I'm pulling from, it's barely started, he is completely unaware of this and he cannot actually use said powers yet.

Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? Sure, as long as it's for a good reason RP-wise and doesn't leave him locked up in a closet or something. >.>

Haha she wouldn't do that (she'd need the Shroud back); she's a comedic character to begin with so :'D

Demons for Nasuverse are default evil so will probably confuse and inspire creepering on her part I hope you're prepared for that.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou?: Mage. Not a very powerful one - unless he gets to lecture. Then that's a different story.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character?: Waver has basically instituted a policy of "anything that offers medical help and is related to Kirei does not get to touch my insides." Although really, if he doesn't know at the time--

Don't worry, the Shroud won't have anything to do with his innards.

It will mostly have to do with him being dangled off lampposts.

Is/has your character (been) possessed by demons or is strongly associated in evil in some way? Masamori has worked with people who would fall under these categories, but he himself escapes it.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Masamori's a fairly strong kekkaishi (barrier master), and he's also capable of some basic charms and such.

Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? I'm going to guess no on this one? Masamori is usually able to sense when someone is sending something to try to control him, whether it's a visible thing or not, and is able to shield himself with a technique that reduces anything but the user to nothing. But we could talk it over in more detail if it comes up?

...To be honest, it would probably be funnier if it didn't work, because then Caren will keep trying and start questioning his gender.

She'd probably pick up on him being spiritual in some way but that's about it.

Is/has your character (been) possessed by demons or is strongly associated in evil in some way? Xigbar houses a whole lot of darkness, which has a lot of negative connotations in the Kingdom Hearts universe. He works for a guy who wants to take over the universe so he's a pretty bad dude.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Xigbar has the ability to cast elemental magics, control darkness, and travel to other worlds, but his main talent is spatial manipulation. So yes, he's pretty magical.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? Yes! /o/ He will try to get out of it, though.

Hooo boy this one will be fun. That sounds like it might set her ability off yes; as for trying to get out of the Shroud; it's basically a holy relic (specifically they're the cloths used to wrap dead saints) with in magic Nasuverse land means its pretty powerful... but again she most of the time she just uses it to annoy people when not working directly with Church exorcists.

In this case though there are decent odds she'd use it to bind him so she can make an interrogation on first meeting; just warning you.

I am all for binding, though it's highly unlikely he'll disclose anything. He has a very casual demeanor most of the time so he'll just be like: "Uh, excuse you. What are you doing?"

But yes, I would love this. :3

Jason was once doused in The Lazarus Pit which has some ill side effects including supposedly making people evil. Jason himself isn't evil, but he has some looser morals which may be caused by the pit and also might just be from him being him. He's definitely willing to kill, if he deems someone that much of a stain on society.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Jay doesn't have any magical abilities to speak of, exactly. Things have happened to him (like coming back to life and being thrown in toxic green pits of crazy) but it doesn't originate from him.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? Yes. Though Jason will very much not approve of it.

That will probably set off her ability and I'm... fuzzy on the detection thing in this case... hrm. I'm going to hedge bets with 'probably', given what the Pits do. Since it's presumably changed him, and he's come back to life, she can pick it up (in the Nasuverse resurrection/immortality is impossible and trying typically results in the Undead monsters the Church is orientated around killing).

Where the Shroud is involved that's kind of the point :'D

But yes he might actually make Caren behave like a responsible member of the Church for once (the horror)

Okuu: well you know the canon so.... possessed by a god (kinda) and is a hell raven to boot. BUT IT'S TOUHOU and by their standards she'd be considered good so long as she does her duty the best a god/hell raven/whatever can do. I thought about this while playing Eiki 'CEPT I don't know how this translated over to Fate/verse. Okuu also doesn't care much for humans and definitley was planning on destorying the world at one point, though that's not on her mind anymore. As much. Unless she's influenced to do the same again.

Okuu: Yeah. Well. Okay, yeah. Nuclear energy isn't magical. But she can manipulate it.
Hange: Nope.

Fate/wise that would probably come across as neutral at worst so Okuu is in the clear. Given Okuu was never human in the first place she would be outside human values and thus kind of bypass Caren's ability entirely. That's... usually how this stuff tends to work.
Hange will cause her pain for entirely different reason jfc take a bath.

okay ykw i'm going to do this for all three of mine in one comment because i am a lazy butt.

Nope to all three!

Kariya is failmage, BUT Madoka is Madokami/magical girl jesus hope god/etc, so she's packing a hella lotta magical power behind those pigtails! It's very much ~hopeful~ magic though, so uh. DO WITH THAT WHAT YOU WILL. As for Pearly, she is a spirit channelling prodigy with a very, very strong spiritual gift and has the ability to allow herself to be possessed by the spirits of the dead, but I'm not sure how that would register on Caren's radar.

North Italy and Leah Clearwater - no.
Aristeo Regis is a necromancer, but that holds no connotation with evil in his world.
Regulus Black, however, has spent the last two years deeply involved in Dark magic, casting torture and killing curses and such, which would have left its marks on his soul. He also bears the Dark Mark on his left forearm.

Aristeo Regis is a necromancer of mediocre skill - all of which are unavailable to him in RC, except for animating the dead. Walking skeletons ahoy.
Regulus Black is a Harry Potter wizard - wand-waving, Latin spells, the works. No super powerful wizard, but yes, definitely wizard through and through.
Leah Clearwater and North Italy aren't exactly magical, but they would ping as "not quite right with them" of some kind. Leah is a wolf shape-shifter and Italy a personified nation.

Ahaha oh no, poor Regulus... THERE WILL BE SO MUCH JUDGING OF REGULUS. How will he react to someone who automatically starts developing injuries whenever he's in close proximity?

Regis will probably just confuse her (to the point of possible creepering) whilst the other two would be in the 'interesting but not my business' category, if that makes sense.

JENOVA is basically a parasite that travels from world to world, feeding off the indigenous lifeforms and sapping the energy from each Planet and then travels to find a new one. Sephiroth fused himself with this being so yes, in this incarnation he's inherently evil.

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Short answer, YES. On top of his psychic abilities being above-average anyway, even for those not with his cells, in canon he was considered the only one who would have been powerful enough spiritually to actually use the Black Materia (ie. to summon a big rock from space to crash into the Planet, to get a surge of energy and become a God). He's practically a Demi-God.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? Yes - (but only for the HGW Event please!)

Does your character have a strong magical affiliation / power / whathaveyou? Integra uses a form of alchemy to keep her control over Alucard. I have no idea how this would register for Caren.

(If male) Can Caren use the Shroud on your character? ~~She's still going to use the shroud on Integra by mistake, right?~~

To my knowledge alchemy is external rather than internal (ie whack the correct combination of mercury together and bam magic happens) so it wouldn't pick up much on the Caren-dar.

Unfortunately, Hellsing just kind of offhandedly mentions Integra's family essentially used alchemy to enhance Dracula's power for their own shenanigans, and locked them with seals (that only the heir of the Hellsing bloodline can unlock), whilst conveniently leaving out how it works.

TL;DR Hellsing runs on rule of cool. /face in hands.

-DOES DAHLIA HAWTHORNE COUNT Maya's been possessed by her but she was just a murderous asshole (who had to be forcibly exorcised) and was possessed by one of the RC ghosts...
-However, Conrad is a vampire, and Scott is a werewolf.

All of them do. Katherine knows basic wizardry, Maya is a spirit medium, Conrad is a vampire, Scott is a werewolf, and then you have Actual Dragon King Arthur.

Yes indeed. Also some people have mistaken Arturia for male so that's a possibility too (they also tend to mistake Waver for female, which is hilarious when the two are in each other's company)

also Scott is a Live Action character so lmk if you don't want his tags or somethin!
